A new language for materials
Igusa is our signature material — and also our field of experimentation. Our vision is to bring it into modern interiors worldwide, honouring its heritage, sharing its beauty, and helping carry the igusa industry into the future. We extend this same approach to every material in our collection to build a new language — which is why working on materials is, for us, the embodiment of our values.
Igusa
The new CMF expands both the colours and the weaves of igusa, so that it sits naturally in international interiors. It also marks an important upgrade in how igusa is dyed. For the first time, the igusa grass braid is fully dyed, both outside and inside. The natural tint soaks into the fibre, which gives a more brilliant hue and greater resistance to fading.
The range of weaves grows as well. Ami and Musubi are now joined by Goza, the traditional weave of Japanese tatami mats. Each weave has its own character, and each now meets a palette that runs from vivid to quiet: Kinari 生成り, the soft glow of natural gold; Kuri 栗, the warmth of chestnut; Sumi 炭・墨, the depth of ink black; Koke 苔, the quiet green of moss; Sabi 錆, the weathered note of rust.
Oak
For the wooden elements, we sought authenticity. We tested different finishes until we found the one that best matched our idea of furniture that lets the material express itself through its shapes: a distinctive grain through a matte, open-pore treatment. To achieve this, we adopted a special oil finish that keeps the natural feel of the oak while giving it the durability required for contract furniture. This is why the warmth of the wood complements the organic beauty of igusa, creating a gentle harmony between the touch of the two materials.
Steel
Alongside the ivory and black, we extended the palette with one red and one green tones that resonate beautifully with the colors of igusa to favorite a total color look of the furniture and amplify the sensorial presence of the objects in space.
Fabric
From Steel Cut Trio 3 to Arda, we identified Kvadrat fabrics as the perfect companion to igusa, for the elegant personality of each one. The palette is built to meet igusa’s own colour world — echoing green vegetation hues, water-reflection tones, and red natural accents — while resting on a strong neutral base of warm and cool tones. Each fabric texture has been selected to offer a different approach to touch and to the presence of the object in space.
Leather
Look into Nature carefully selects leather from the Swedish brand Elmo. Through the meeting of Nordic refinement and Japanese sensitivity toward natural materials, a new sense of harmony and depth is brought into the spaces we create — in three essential hues: cognac, testa di moro, black.
